CHIC featuring the legendary Nile Rodgers will return to Liverpool on October 26 for the first time since 1979 as part of the award-winning Liverpool Music Week.
Now in its 15th year Liverpool Music Week (LMW) will run from Thursday, October 26 to Saturday, November 4 and will will welcome the legacy of Grammy-winning composer, producer and guitarist to the Echo Arena.
Festival director Mike Deane said: "It's been quite the journey since starting LMW as a single venue venture back in 2003, but there’s no doubt that today is our single proudest moment as we announce CHIC & Nile Rodgers as our 2017 headliners.
"There aren't many individuals in music who compare to their legendary status, importance, and continued iconic relevance.
"We are utterly thrilled that both Nile and the band have agreed to join us this year.
"There really isn't a live music show quite like CHIC, and we can't think of anyone better to open this milestone year."
Joining the bill are London electronic duo Mount Kimbie whose performance is the first date of a tour promoting their forthcoming album, Love What Survives which features collabs with artists such as King Krule and James Blake.
Childhood will also be gracing the Buyers Club stage and over the road Gengahr will showcase their out-of-this-world sound at The Magnet.
An exclusive performance from alternative hip-hop star Princess Nokia shakes up proceedings while down at Liverpool Guild of Students the legendary LMW Closing Night Party will return for another sell out.
Artists such as British grime star MC AJ Tracey, Perfume Genius and Zola Jesus will cast their wicked spell before a very special headline artist - due to be revealed in the coming weeks - crowns proceedings.
Leaf Tea Shop and Bar will host Lost Horizons - the new live project from Simon Raymonde from Cocteau Twins who will feature as a special Bella Union 20th Anniversary Show.
The return of the beloved Breaking Out series in partnership with DIY will take to the underground caves of EBGB's welcoming Girl Ray, Goat Girl, Spinning Coin and Little Cub.
Last year the showstopping event brought together more than 12,000 music fans to celebrate Liverpool’s vibrant and ever-changing scene.
It is hoped 2017's edition will continue to showcase a mix of the finest in world renowned touring artists and the best in upcoming local talent.
At just £65 for a full LMW17 wristband giving access to all shows or individual tickets will go on sale 9am Thursday, August 3.
