Dutch band Pip Blom to perform at Birkenhead Library for Independent Venue Week

DUTCH indie rockers Pip Blom are set to make history to become the second band to perform at Birkenhead Library.

As part of Independent Venue Week, Pip Blom will perform at the Library, on Borough Road, on Sunday, February 3 in collaboration with Get it Loud in Libraries.

The young band have been taking the UK by storm, gaining airplay on BBC radio while touring with the likes of Franz Ferdinand.

Named after their 22-year-old front-woman, the quartet have recently released the video for track The Shed which features on their four-track EP Paycheck which has been released in conjunction with Nice Swan Records and El Diablo.

In total, there are only 500 copies of the Paycheck EP available.

The Shed is a burgeoning offering, similar in sound to the likes of Blur, Pip's leading lady vocals lovingly burn through the fuzzed instrumental and when paired with her brother Tender's backing harmonies create an indie-rock fantasia.

Other tracks such as Come Home and Pussycat are a bit more punchy.

Similar to Jade Bird's Love Has All Been Done Before, Pussycat is a faster, harder track with Pip presenting a rock'n'roller screech which makes you want to scream the lyrics back at the top of your lungs - there's no doubt that it's the perfect track to play live.

Described as 'Wirral's freshest and most inclusive live music venue' by Independent Venue Week bosses, Birkenhead Library first opened its gig doors for Brooklyn-based art punk band BODEGA in July 2018.

Get it Loud in Libraries have pledged their commitment to bringing live music to areas that are often neglected from tours, such as Wirral, by bringing this show to the library.

Tickets are £8 and doors are 2.30pm, get yours via www.seetickets.com/event/pip-blom/birkenhead-library-birkenhead/1266986
