SKATERS

AHEAD of their 14-date UK Tour with Brit musician Rat Boy, New York's finest Skaters release their latest single, The Loner.

Forming in 2012 with debut EP, Schemers, Skaters went on to create their debut album two years later in Electric Lady Studios, Manhattan, originally built by Jimi Hendrix.

Taken from their second album, The Loner is a fast-paced track with punchy beats and gutsy lyricisms.

Front-man Michael Ian Cummings chief insanely catchy, chanting lyrics making the tune an energizing form of post-punk tainted by an unbending Krautrock beat. The backbone comes from the almighty sassy chords from British guitarist, Joshua Hubbard that play into the hands of the meaty beat from Noah Rubin.

  1. Skaters (stylized as SKATERS) is a rock band that was formed in New York City, New York in 2012. The group's birth can be traced to a hectic 24 hours in Los Angeles in the summer of 2011, when singer and songwriter Michael Ian Cummings met English guitarist Josh Hubbard at a party at a "really fancy-ass house," as Cummings recalls.A few months later, the still band-less Cummings got a call from Hubbard announcing that he'd be arriving in NYC the following day from the U.K. He'd be in town for a month and a half and wanted the group to play a gig. So they hooked up with Drummer Noah Rubin and local bassist Dan Burke, booked three shows, learned some songs Cummings and Rubin had been tinkering with (and a handful of Pixies covers), and SKATERS was formed. The Kooks tickets you can find at Tickets select.
