Best UK independent festival, Bearded Theory first line up announcement for 2017

Bearded Theory is back for its 10th anniversary to see out 2017's spring fling with punk duo Slaves and Skunk Anansie both being announced to co-headline the Friday night of the weekender.

From Thursday, May 25 to Sunday, May 28 Bearded Theory will take to their faithful home of Catton Hall, South Derbyshire.

Skunk Anansie will be the festival's first female fronted band to headline proceedings.

Other bands announced include New Model Army, The Selecter, Goldblade, Sugar Hill Gang & Furious Five and Ferocious Dog.

Liverpool's Brit-pop sweethearts Cast will headline the Woodland Stage with Reverend and The Makers ending proceedings on the Sunday.

Reverend & The Makers, front-man Jon McClure said: "If festivals were judged on vibe alone then Bearded Theory is the best in the world and we cannot wait to close the 10th anniversary."

With the first wave of acts only just being announced, there are plenty more surprises yet to come from the sell-out festival, the latest cat out the bag is the revealing of an almost carbon copy of the 2008 Sunday main stage bill on Thursday's Pallet stage with artists such as Dreadzone, Tarantism and Gail.
