Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Jo Whiley announced to perform at Aintree Racecourse for Ladies Day

AINTREE Racecourse will welcome pop superstar Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Radio DJ Jo Whiley for Ladies Day on Friday, April 7.

Performing in the Aintree Pavilion at 5.30pm, Sophie will present some of her greatest tracks such as Murder on the Dancefloor, Bittersweet and Young Blood plus new hits such as Crystallise.

The aftershow party will follow shortly after at the Red Rum Lawn were racegoers will be able to sample the very best music supplied by Ms Whiley.

Jo said: “This is going to be a fantastic day at Aintree Racecourse. I always love DJ’ing at race meetings as the crowds are always in a great mood after a day’s superb action on the track.

“Liverpool is a wonderful city and Aintree is at the forefront of supporting and celebrating women in racing so I cannot wait for April 7 – it is going to be such a big party!”

Liverpool legends, The Lightning Seeds have also been announced to headline the opening day of the festival but organisers are keeping us eagerly awaiting the name of the artist(s) who will provide the music for the Randox Health Grand National on Saturday, April 8.

Managing director of Aintree Racecourse, John Baker added: “We’re delighted with this outstanding music line-up on Fabulous Friday of the Randox Health Grand National Festival. With Liverpool chart toppers, The Lightning Seeds already announced to open the Festival on Grand Opening Day, we feel there’s something for everyone and we hope all racegoers enjoy a thrilling day of racing on the track then come and enjoy these exciting performances.

“With under 80 days to go until the Randox Health Grand National and the site build about to start, we’re delighted that tickets and hospitality for the festival are ahead compared to this time last year on all three days – I’d advise people to try to snap them up quick so they don’t miss out!

“Aintree has also invested almost £1 million into free WIFI across the whole which will be available to all racegoers on all three days of the festival.”

Tickets for the 2017 Randox Health Grand National Festival are available from www.randoxhealthgrandnational.co.uk or by calling 0344 579 3001.
