Nile Rodgers and CHIC to headline Liverpool International Music Festival


LEGENDARY guitarist and producer Nile Rodgers has been revealed as Saturday headliner for Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF).

He will bring his pioneering band CHIC to LIMF’s Central Stage at Sefton Park on Saturday, July 20 performing tracks from his sensational back-catalogue such as 'Le Freak', 'Everybody Dance' and 'I Want Your Love' for a performance that cannot to be missed.

Rodgers joins the bill with the likes of already confirmed De La Soul, SIGMA and Disco Classical with special guest Sister Sledge featuring Kathy Sledge who will close the festival on Sunday, July 21.

Speaking about the announcement, Rodgers said: "Liverpool has been the site of some of my greatest moments as an artist from our triumphant concerts there, where we are made to feel like we are from Anfield or the Old Swan to being honoured by Sir Paul McCartney at LIPA.

"We cannot wait to be back to Merseyside not once, but twice this summer!”

Turning seven this summer, the two-day event will welcome some of the world's biggest artists such as Ella Eyre, Kenny Dope, 3Beat @ 30,  M-22, Geko and Anton Powers while also championing the future stars of the music industry.

Rising stars featuring at the festival include NAO, SG Lewis, Grace Carter and Kara Marni as well as local  rising talents LUNA, Raheem Alameen and KYAMI from the festival's talent development programme LIMF Academy.

Other emerging local acts will be appearing on the festival’s Music City Stage, including PizzaGirl,
Eyesore & The Jinx, Sub Blue and Bill Nickson, as well as a special Unesco Collaboration.

LIMF with Liverpool Gin takes place on 20 and 21 July and tickets are priced at £11 plus £26 for VIP.
