Africa Oyé 2020 cancelled until further notice

ORGANISERS of the award-winning Africa Oyé have revealed that this year's event has been postponed until further notice.

Scheduled to take place on 20 and 21 June at Sefton Park, the festival was set to welcome the likes of pan-African supergroup Les Amazones D'Afrique, Ghana's Santrofi and Cameroonian songstress Valerie Ekoume.

In a statement, Africa Oyé said: "With Government advice warning against all public gatherings for the foreseeable future in order to halt the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the decision was made by the Chair Sonia Bassey, the Festival’s Artistic Director, Paul Duhaney and the charity’s Board of Trustees, to cancel the event until further notice."
