Cold Ocean Lies

YOUNG Birmingham quartet, Cold Ocean Lies, are proving that psychedelia doesn't necessarily have to be so softly matured.

After having standards set high by the likes of Tame Impala and Pond, Cold Ocean Lies abuse the now almost bog-standard genre, giving a somewhat refreshing gothic offering of the naturally airy sound.

Signed to Every Second Records, these four-lads released their debut single, The Game earlier on this year to a cool reception, one which is sure to grow with other tracks such as b-side, Wasted Time and Breathe.

With a stoner vocalism made famous by the Gallagher brothers in the 90s, front-man Luke Brickett Haycock lays down the hardened law of psych-trance leaders so deviantly.

Dampened by ethereal chords and floating basslines that rivet through the clouded smog left by a weighty beat, the instrumental carries a hazy texture, lazing about in a daze completely out of this world.

Produced by Cam Blackwood who has worked with artists such as Darlia and George Ezra, The Game is a debut track like no-other, one these hard-working lads should be immensely proud of.
